RESCUING YOU FROM MEDICAL BILLING MISTAKES
| |
Is that really what you owe?Medical Facilities do not provide their actual cost when you receive your bill:A hospitals average cost as a percentage of the hospital's overall charges, but the hospital knows its actual cost. Here is an example where is Cost is compared to ChargeIt if says 0.33, that means the medical facilities actual cost is only .33 of what they charge. This means 33ยข on every dollar is the actual cost.Medical Providers do not want you to know what Insurance companies or Medicare pays for the same condition. Most medical facilities will tell you that Insurance or Medicare pays too little causing the facility to lose money on insured patients. That is not always true information. The federal law actually requires Medicare to pay on average 1% more than cost at an efficient medical facility. For example, the Minnesota Attorney General made a commitment with the seven-hospital Fairview Health Services, the hospitals would be required to charge self-pay patients no more than 5% above Medicare or Medicaid rates, whichever is greater. You need to know what you are being billed for. Ask for an itemized statement. You can always ask that you should not pay more than Medicare rate plus 25%. That is a generous payment from you. There is no guarantee that this would be accepted. It never hurts to ask. Contact Medical Bill Rescue on how to suggest an offer like this. | |
